立花隆の脳死 (中公文庫)の続編という形だが、前著に寄せられた批判（とは到底呼べないものだが）に対する反論をまとめた一冊。脳死 (中公文庫)を読んで知識をしっかりさせた上で読むべき。ポイントや立花氏の主張は前著とかぶるが、それは重要である故。
とりあえず、脳死と生命倫理について語るには必須の知識だ。知らないで意見を述べるのが一番怖い。
